Reception – Comparing a Vikings diet

Reception took their last week down a 12,000-year walk through history by exploring Vikings. Reception first learnt about a Vikings diet. This learning went over a period of two days. Day one’s learning was to discover what a Vikings diet consisted of and the types of food that were available to the Vikings. Now reception had an understanding of the types of food, day two was to expand our learning by comparing and exploring the similarities and differences to what is available for us to eat today. We began day two by having a class circle time handling, feeling, smelling and describing a range of different fruits and vegetables. We then went off into our literacy groups to write a sentence about our favourite fruits and vegetables.
