English in Year 6 is off to a fantastic start this half term. We begun by looking at the ‘shapes’ that make up a non-chronological report, familiarising ourselves with what this genre looks like. Before we could start our sentence stacking lessons, we needed to make sure we understood the science behind evolution (the topic we would be writing about). We had an experience lesson which involved us conducting an experiment about the fictional springbeak species. This helped us to deepen our understanding of adaption. We’re now underway with our sentence stacking lessons and are rising to the challenge of this style of writing. Everyone is working incredibly hard and creating some fantastic paragraphs.
I am very excited to continue this unit of work with the class and look forward to reading the final pieces of writing!
