After thinking about how toys have changed in their lifetime (from a baby to a toddler to today) Year 1 brought in their favourite toy from home this week. We had a special show and tell, then wrote about our toys including what they are made of and how they work. We found many of the toys were made of plastic and needed batteries to work. We ended the afternoon with an opportunity to play with our toys on our group tables.
Next in History we will be learning about parents toys, followed by grandparents toys. Please see the homework grid task and you can add photos or internet images (of parents and Grandparents toys) to Google Classroom to save on printing! This will help to make it relevant for the children and I cannot wait to hear their ideas for how toys have changed over time! We will be ending our History topic by looking at Victorian toys, creating a toy timeline and sorting images into older and newer.
