This week the children have been learning all about winter. They know that some trees keep their leaves and they are known as evergreen. We have explored that some animals go to sleep through the winter and we call this Hibernation. The children also learnt that some birds fly to a warmer climate. We have explored the book “Robins Winter Song” and understand that the Robin stays for the winter along with other birds. We will build on our knowledge of native birds to England by us, part in the Great British Bird Watch, details will be sent out with your child please keep a look out for the information.
The children went on a Winters walk, they all got very excited when they felt the frost on the grass making crunching sounds and explored how cold it was to touch. On the walk some children noted that the flowers had gone but they would be back when the weather is warmer. Another child found a bush with its leaves still on “It’s an evergreen” they said linking their learning to the previous lesson.
Great learning and exploring Nursery
