Sidney the Squirrel Acorn Hunt

Today in nursery the children received a letter from Sidney the Squirrel asking for help. He had lost his acorns and asked nursery if they could help find them. He is getting very worried as the weather is getting cold and food will be very hard to find. The children were happy to help Sidney. They explored the Guinea pig area and found the first Acorn. The children searched the mile track and hedgerow moving onto Key stage 2 playground. We decided to count the Acorns to see how many we had found. The children noted we were one short! To help sort what number was missing the children helped sort them into number order. We discovered number 8 is missing. The children returned to mile track and found number 8. Once back in the playground the children helped to order the Acorns into number order. The children worked well as a team and Sidney the Squirrel is very happy.
