Year 4 pupils…
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to the final term of Year 4!
I hope everyone has had a restful Easter break and that the children refreshed and ready for a busy summer term.
Firstly, I’m sure the children will give a warm welcome to Mrs Sutton is taking over from Miss Hoskin and taking the class on a Thursday morning.
Each week the children continue their swimming lessons on a Tuesday so will require their swim kits to be brought in each week. Our other PE lesson is on a Wednesday this term..
Every Monday, homework tasks will continue to be uploaded onto Google Classroom for the children to complete on their Chromebook, focusing on essential skills. This needs to be completed and submitted by Sunday evening and we will go through the questions in class.
Times Tables remain a priority as the Multiplication Check is coming up in June with the expectation is that all children should be fluent on all tables up to 12×12. Please continue to support your child in this by making sure they complete at least 20 minutes a week on our online resource, Times Table Rockstars.
Please ensure your child is reading at least 3 times a week and you are recording this in their reading records. If your child is on the colour coded reading scheme, please remind them to give their reading book to Mrs Walden as soon as they have read it so they can be given another. It is expected they change their book at least once per week. Thank you for your support in this.
Our theme this term is ‘Radical Romans’ and there are lots of exciting activities planned, including our class trip to Verulamium which should bring the period alive for the children. I am sure Year 4 will enjoy learning about this period across History, Art, D and T. In Science we will be learning about at Sound and Living Things and Their Habitats whilst in Geography we will be looking at the UK and investigating our local area.If you have any queries or concerns, please do speak with me at the end of the day or call the office and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
